Ajuga reptans ‘Catlin’s Giant’

– Evergreen perennial from Europe
– Lush rosettes of purple-tinged
foliage spread by runners
– 10” purple flower spikes in spring
– Use as edging or as naturalized
filler in sparse, shady lawns

This ajuga can quickly form a dense mat of dark green leaves, even in shade, making it an excellent choice for gardens under established oak trees. The spikes of little blue-purple flowers make it especially beautiful in spring. We also like it planted around the edges of water features and artificial springs, where it appreciates the splashing and creates interesting nooks and crannies of greenery amidst the rocks.
