Muhlenbergia capillaris

– Native deciduous grass from
South Texas to Massachusetts
– Airy clouds of pink flowers
bloom in late summer and fall
– Beautiful backlit by the sun
– Cut back to 6” on March 1st

An absolutely stunning native grass that should be in every landscape in central Texas. Naturally found in thin, rocky, or clay soils so will easily grow in our terrible soil. Virtually no insect or disease problems and deer resistant as well. After most of our landscapes have puttered out for the year this beauty shines in the fall to give our yards year-round interest. Looks nice planted as an individual specimen, but really shines in mass plantings.
