Lantana montevidensis
– Semi-evergreen shrub from
South America
– Masses of purple flowers bloom
from spring to fall
– Shear back in late winter
– A colorful informal groundcover
This groundcover lantana is most beautiful if you give it space and let it go. While it may not be a good fit for a tidy, formal garden, you can view this plant in all its abundant glory next to the south entrance of our nursery, right by the street, where its prolific purple flowers can really shine. Good companions include Pride of Barbados, Yellow Bells, firebush, native hesperaloes, or anything that’s about midsize and bright yellow or orange.
