Viburnum suspensum
– Evergreen shrub from southern
Japan
– Glossy, leathery oval leaves
– White flowers in spring
– Prefers acidic soil
– Used as a hedge or privacy screen
Native to southwestern Japan, this is a lovely deer resistant screening plant for a shaded area with moist soil and some protection from the elements. White flowers are beautiful, but fly pollinated, so they have a very distinctive smell that you’ll either love or hate! Still, this is a beautiful little dense evergreen shrub to create a protected little green cove, and can tolerate heavy clay.
