Tecoma stans

– Bright tubular yellow flowers all
summer long
– Perennial comes back from the
roots in mid-spring
– Customer and pollinator favorite!

Native to the Southwestern US (including Texas!), this tropical looking flower takes heat and drought like a champion. Like Pride of Barbados, it comes up late in the spring and keeps your garden showy and beautiful during the worst parts of summer, and is carefree once it’s established (just make sure you give it extra protection for its first winter). Pollinators love the giant, yellow tubular flowers, and so do we! Also a host plant for some very cool varieties of sphinx moth, and the very cute dogface butterfly.
