Passiflora caerulea

– Perennial rapid growing vine
– White flower with bright blue corolla
– Summer & spring bloomer
– Glossy green foliage

Passionflowers might be the coolest looking flowers around: they are big, showy, and otherworldly. P. caurulea is especially beautiful, with the bright blue crown highlighted against white petals. This plant prefers good drainage and deep, infrequent watering. It’s also a host plant for the gulf fritillary butterfly, so an excellent choice for a butterfly garden or wildlife garden in need of food sources for caterpillars! Look out for these orange, spiky little friends a couple of times a year, and rest assured that the plant will recover cheerfully even if the caterpillars fully defoliate it. It’s absolutely worth it to have a garden full of gulf fritillaries fluttering around!
