Lonicera sempervirens

– Local native semi-evergreen vine
from Central Texas to Maine
– Twining habit
– Coral pink flowers spring to summer
– Prune as needed soon after
flowering ends

This is probably our staff favorite vine! Usually evergreen here in central Texas, the vine also has sweet coral pink to orange tubular flowers all spring and summer. It grows quickly, but not so aggressively that you have to worry about it ruining your fence or your house. Best of all, the tubular orange flowers attract hummingbirds and the foliage is a host plant for the Snowberry Clearwing, an adorable sphinx moth that looks kind of like a big, fat, fuzzy, golden honeybee. A beautiful screening plant that brings this much cuteness to the garden really can’t be beat.
