Ficus carica ‘Texas Everbearing’
– Deciduous tree from western Asia
– Brownish purple fruit; amber-
colored sweet pulp
– Bears on old and new growth
from late spring to fall; self-fertile
– Typically unpruned, but may be reduced if too big
Another excellent, reliable fig for Central Texas! The closed eye keeps insects out and keeps fruit from rotting, and while “everbearing” isn’t quite accurate, it should produce two crops each year. Good fig care entails topdressing around your tree twice a year with nice, rich compost and enjoying your easy-care, beautiful fruit tree.
