Ficus carica ‘Celeste’
– Deciduous tree from western Asia
– Small, greenish purple fruit;
sweet pink pulp
– Bears on old growth in late
summer; self-fertile
– Typically unpruned, but may be reduced if too big
Small but extremely sweet and flavorful, this is another great fig for Central Texas! The fruit has a small, closed eye that keeps insects out, so fruit quality is great even in humid conditions. Super cold tolerant, but make sure you offer her some extra water during hot, dry summers.
